Meet Pastor John
Pastor John Sheaffer and his wife, Jackie, are long-time residents of Grant County. John has served as an associate and interim pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Covington, KY and also worked at the Answers in Genesis ministry (Ark Encounter and Creation Museum) directing the advancement department. Jackie is a retired teacher from the Walton-Verona School District.
Pastor Sheaffer is a veteran of pastoral ministry with 14 years of experience as a senior pastor and over 20 years in associate and youth ministry. He's a graduate of Moody Graduate School of Chicago, IL. In his free time he loves to read history, do yard work, spend time with his family, give tours at the Ark Encounter and watch sports.

Meet the Moeykens
David and Lew Moeykens moved from Ocean City, Maryland to work for Answers in Genesis in August of 2022. Mt Zion Baptist Church quickly became the local church home for their family. David serves as Director of Youth and Family Outreach. Lew runs the Children's Church ministry.
David also is a design fabricator for Answers in Genesis and has a passion to serve the Lord with all his gifts and talents. His desire to share the gospel has propelled him into ministry at MZBC. Lew has worked in children's ministry, taught in Christian schools and served in many capacities in her local church over the last 10 years. As a family they share a love for music and attending Christian music festivals and various Christian concerts.
Their heart is for sharing the Gospel with the lost and teaching the found to walk with Christ.
Meet James Faulkner
James Faulkner began as the Worship Director at Mt. Zion in October 2022 after graduating from St. Olaf College with degrees in Music and History in May of 2022. He also teaches middle and high school choir at Calvary Christian School in Taylor Mill, KY. James strives to find a balance between wonderful older hymns and newer strong contemporary worship music. Above all else bringing the story of the Gospel to life through music is his biggest focus.
James lives in Edgewood, KY where he enjoys singing in community choirs, playing and watching sports, and spending time with his family.
