Pastor John Sheaffer and his wife, Jackie, are long-time residents of Grant County. John has served as an associate and interim pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Covington, KY and also worked at the Answers in Genesis ministry (Ark Encounter and Creation Museum) directing the advancement department. Jackie is a retired teacher from the Walton-Verona School District.
Pastor Sheaffer is a veteran of pastoral ministry with 14 years of experience as a senior pastor and over 20 years in associate and youth ministry. He's a graduate of Moody Graduate School of Chicago, IL. In his free time he loves to read history, do yard work, spend time with his family, give tours at the Ark Encounter and watch sports.

Phillip and Heidi Fourroux moved from North Idaho in September 2025 to serve at Mount Zion Baptist Church, where Phillip now serves as Assistant Pastor. He completed his pastoral training through the Contenders Discipleship Initiative and served for three years as a ministry intern at Spirit Lake Baptist Church in Idaho.
Phillip and Heidi were married in February 2024 and ministered together in Idaho before the Lord called them to Mount Zion. Phillip is passionate about serving the church, building up the body of Christ, and helping people in the community come to know Jesus as Lord.
As a family, Phillip, Heidi, and their daughter, Harper, enjoy sharing meals with others, taking family walks, gardening, exploring the outdoors, and spending quality time together.
James Faulkner began as the Worship Director at Mt. Zion in October 2022 after graduating from St. Olaf College with degrees in Music and History in May of 2022. He also teaches middle and high school choir at Calvary Christian School in Taylor Mill, KY. James strives to find a balance between wonderful older hymns and newer strong contemporary worship music. Above all else bringing the story of the Gospel to life through music is his biggest focus.
James lives in Edgewood, KY where he enjoys singing in community choirs, playing and watching sports, and spending time with his family.
